Sea Moss Gel

The fact that you’re reading this shows that you know a little something about the newly found health trend, Sea Moss. While it’s new to social media, it has definitely been used for years and is loved for the extreme amount of health benefits that it provides.

What is Sea Moss?

Sea Moss is a type of red algae that grows on the Atlantic coastlines of North America, Europe, and the Caribbean Islands. There are thousands of species of moss, but two of the most popular ones are Genus Gracilaria and Chondrus Crispus (Irish Moss or Carrageen Moss).

So, let's get started!


  • 4 oz of dry Sea Moss

  • Spring or Alkaline Water

  • Limes (optional)


  • Add 4 oz of Sea Moss to a glass bowl.

  • Add spring or alkaline water to the bowl and work sea moss around with hands. This is how your sea moss will get clean, so be sure to wash thoroughly.

  • Drain and repeat 3-4 times until fully clean and water is clear.

  • Drain all excess water.

  • Fill your bowl with more water, just enough to cover the Sea Moss. Add limes to help with the earthy taste of the sea.

  • Soak for 24 hours.

  • After your Sea Moss has soaked for 24 hours, you'll notice that it has swelled up, absorbing most of the moisture, and doubled in size. Use tongs and add the Sea Moss directly to s blender. Having a good blender really helps with getting a smooth consistency.

  • Pour in half part water. It is extremely important not to add too much water, to begin with. You can always add more water, but you cannot take it away.

  • Blend until smooth.

  • If your blender stops, don't panic, just add a bit more water.

  • Blend until the Sea Moss reaches a silky smooth consistency, with no lumps.

Store in a glass mason jar with a lid. Plastic is undesirable for this gel, as it will soak up all of the toxins.
